It’s Fall. It’s October And it’s Tuesday night. Three of my favorite times. The first two mean that in Sacramento, it LOOKS like fall outside, but still kinda feels like summer. The third one means that I get to play some music for you on Woody Radio.
So after a couple of weeks since my last show, I fired up the old Tuesday night music spinning machine, and played you 56 songs. No filler, all killer, as the kids say.
Here’s a few program notes for this show. Maria Sokratis, who lives in Australia, tagged me in a concert poster on Facebook about an hour before the show–and asked if I was going. What was it? It was a poster for an upcoming Matthew Sweet show at Harlow’s, in Sacramento! I wasn’t previously aware of that show–so it was funny and cool that my Australian friend is the one who clued me into the local happenings here in my town! So to celebrate, I played a song by Maria’s band, The Undecided by Default, followed by Matthew Sweet.
This past Saturday, Gabe Nelson dropped into my Twirl Radio studios, to bring me a couple of solo CDs that his Mother Hips bandmate, Greg Loiacono, was involved with. Very kind of him to do so, and we played a track off of one of them–the band was called The Sensations. We’ll be tapping more into Greg’s music in future shows. Gabe definitely knows the type of music that I like.
And our Oddball Segues of the Week: 1: Going from Ass Ponys to Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass in one move. 2: Going from Julian Cope to NRBQ to Cirrone in just two moves. Dizzying, to say the least.
