This week’s show was a minor milestone for me. It marks the 50th time that I snuck onto the Woody Radio airwaves, and did a show! I started the show back in November, 2017, and haven’t looked back. So how we celebrate?
Well, in a few ways. We did some odd and inspiring segues, not the least of which was 2018 favorites Sunshine Boys, sandwiched in between Curtis Mayfield and Nirvana. And that was just in the first 20 minutes of the show! Later on, we heard brand new music from The Bobbleheads, The Decibels, Sally’s Six Gun Sorrow (a new cowpunk-sounding project from Krista Acheson), Matt Langlois, The Kariannes, Lost Leaders, and Trip Wire. And the musical excellence didn’t stop with the debuts–we heard some of 2018’s finest music, and some great older tracks as well.
The chat room was hopping too. We had a musical meeting of the minds in there–some really smart conversation was happening amongst some real music lovers. I was so pleased to see this great interaction.
We did this week’s Fortune Cookie Report. This week–it was a special, 50th show fortune cookie–complete with cellophane wrap (unlike the last few weeks). Remember, when I read a fortune on the air, it’s not only my fortune, it’s yours too.
So basically, I celebrated the 50th show pretty much the way we approach each week–it’s a celebration of the music. I love being on Woody Radio–the freedom and creativity afforded there is amazing. Big thanks to Gidget and Boris for making it so.
