WOODY RADIO DJ MIKE SHOW #59, 5/21/2019

This week sure felt like Northern California winter, even though it’s technically spring. We had a few days of rain, high temperatures in the upper 50s-lower 60s. But there are still some telltale signs of spring. Leaves on the trees, tomatoes and zucchinis starting to appear in the garden. And I’m starting to wear shorts now.

Ok–you’ve now had the weather report, ag report, and fashion report. Now on to the show. The music show. The reason why they let me join Woody Radio about a year and a half ago. The music.

The past couple of weeks have been insanely good to me, musically speaking. Even MORE new 2019 music has been coming in. This week’s show featured new debut tracks from Salt (a project which includes Anton Barbeau and Ken Stringfellow), legendary DIY’er Richard X. Heyman, Heiskell (the legendary Judybats frontman Jeff Heiskell), and Sacramento cowpunk rocker JonEmery. And these are literally just the songs that were not in my collection a week and a half ago! The rest of the night was peppered with songs which were released in this still fairly young year. There’s some older stuff in the mix too which has stood the test of time.

All in all, I think you need to listen to this week’s mix of music. It’s so exciting when I hear new music for the first time.
