WOODY RADIO DJ MIKE SHOW #62, 6/11/2019

This week’s challenge–to bring the music to you when it’s 100 degrees outside. Yes, it was 100 degrees in Sacramento just before showtime this week. A mid-June heat wave, to be sure. Ah, makes me long for those days of yesteryear, when we had highs in the 60s, and rain all day. Two weeks ago! Aha! The weather’s been fickle.

However, come rain or shine, and everything in between, we like to bring you the music. I’d thought about this last week, because one night, there was a scheduled power outage in our neighborhood. The local power company literally took the power down for most of the night, to do some maintenance work, replacing a 1940’s-era substation, and other equipment. Fortunately, it was a Friday night, and the weather was cool out. But if it had been Tuesday night, who knows what would have happened?

Fortunately, all systems were “go” this week, including the A/C. And it was a good thing, because we came up with a pretty good mix of songs. 57 of them–possibly a DJ Mike on Tuesday night record! And yes, the oddball segues continue. Who’d of thought of following Allyson Seconds with Nirvana? Or constructing a set with Peter Murphy, Danny Wilkerson, Don Dixon, and The Handcuffs–with no break in between? I actually know the answer to those semi-rhetorical questions.

So I just need one little thing from you. I just need you to listen to some or all of this musical greatness. Experience the variety, and the weird segues which actually work. Yes, all this seemingly disjointed music really does fit together.
