So we did a fairly diverse show. Krista D sent me a great new track earlier in the day, just in time to get it on the show! I played tracks by the artists who played the well-received Spyderpop Showcast in Woodland, CA (near Sacramento) just a few days ago. It was my complete honor to have emceed that show. I hadn’t played Rick Hromadka’s “Taxman”-type song, Ruby Free’s “Owe To The Man”, in quite a while–so it was good to hear it. This just so happened to be my Song of the Year, the year it came out. How about Bart Mendoza & True Stories covering a 1986 Elvis Costello song, but in the style of what Elvis sounded like in 1979–a brilliant take indeed. And–have you ever wondered what my favorite songs are by Wire Train, The Orange Peels, Material Issue, R.E.M., and John Wesley Harding? This should should answer those burning questions for you.
