WOODY RADIO DJ MIKE SHOW #73, 9/10/2019

OUR fortune this week. And yes, we share fortunes. Whatever I get, you get.
You know, I’ve been given three hours on Tuesday nights, in which to do whatever I please. Of course, that involves playing a whole lot of music. But I do tend to get motivated, aka, carried away. When planning for my shows, I usually hand select close to 80 songs. Trouble is, I’ve never gotten close to playing that many songs on my show. I’m so poor at planning, that I run out of time before I run out of music. So most weeks, I end up going into overtime. In other words, 11:00 p.m. rolls around, and I want to keep going. So we do a set of overtime songs. Then another. And finally, around 11:30, I need to finally finish up, in order to make way for The Secret Weapon (our all-night selection of Boris Boden’s fine music tracks).

So these sections of the show, which are now delineated below in the playlist for your convenience, are becoming sort of a tradition. And I like to get a little more dramatic with the music selection, the later it gets in the evening.

Other traditions include the now-famous “Fortune Cookie Report”, and the weather report–just in case you happen to be in Sacramento, or just enjoy hearing about what the temperature is in Sacramento. I always try to cajole listeners into joining me in the Woody Radio chat room during the show. In there, people can talk about anything–and usually do!

So here we stand, 73 shows in, and we’ve got our traditions. But when it comes to music–don’t you dare say “I’ll have the usual”. You and I both know that “usual” doesn’t exist at Woody Radio. We are all about variety, and catching listeners off-guard–in the best sort of fun surprise way possible.

I hope you enjoy this week’s episode. Lots of good, handpicked music stuffed into one show.
