WOODY RADIO DJ MIKE SHOW #76, 10/1/2019

Kicking back and delivering the music to you.
In my ongoing effort to catch up with posting my backlog of shows, I present to you: the October 1st edition of my “Tuesday Night Radio Show With No Name”! Yes, yes, that’s a whole lot of name for a show with no name, but so it goes. This episode had a few defining characteristics. A month late, I played what is perhaps the first, and only holiday song written for Labor Day! Not quite enough to go out Labor Day caroling yet–we’ll need some more songs like this, but it’s a very good start, from William Cleere and the Marvelous Fellas (Bill Cleere backed by The Corner Laughers). Later on, we did the world’s first “Floyd-Lloyd” one-two punch–Pink Floyd, followed by Bill Lloyd. And it worked! A couple of songs by young, emerging power-pop stars, Johnathan Pushkar and Nick Eng. What’s the connection–aside from the stylistic similarities of their catalog of work–both songs share the exact same title: “It’s Alright”! Different songs, however, as you’ll hear.

And finally, in the third and final hour of regulation time (that witching hour, before we go into “overtime”), without really paying close attention to what I was doing, I played both Buck Owens and Madonna! Boris Boden pointed this out to me, and we both marveled at how it worked really well. That’s Woody Radio for you–playing the unexpected!

I hope you enjoy the show. We’ll keep posting more shows as the week goes on.
