WOODY RADIO DJ MIKE SHOW #80, 11/12/2019

The 20’s are nearly upon us. I’m bringing back the style of the last “Roaring 20’s”.
And now, I’m finally caught up with posting my Woody Radio shows. This is the most recent one, done just a few days ago. Fall is finally in full swing here in my neck of the woods. Leaves changing colors, falling off the trees. And me sitting by the back door of the house, in my little Sacramento Woody Radio studio, playing you some great tunes from all over the lot. I like when I can do stuff like sandwich Iggy Pop covering John Hiatt, between The Welcome Matt and The Cherry Bluestorms. Or end a set with Michal Towber’s “Rockstar”–because I came to the realization that this particular song simply cannot be in the middle of a set. It needs to be the last song. A musical palate cleanser? Well, no, more like a musical bull in a china shop. Either way, it needs to resonate a little in your head for a minute after it’s done playing. And to put Anny Celsi, Wade Johnson, and Taj Mahal together in a set–what a musical thrill for me!

Also–about a month ago, I got to DJ a “Roaring 20’s” themed party at Access Sacramento (home to KUBU 96.5 and Twirl Radio). I was able to get myself into the mood by dressing the part (see photo above). And it dawned on me–in about 6 weeks, we’ll be back in the 20’s again! So maybe this style will come back and become a “thing”. If so, just refer back to this picture, and remember where you heard it first!

But even if that doesn’t work, we’ll still always have the music. Give the show a listen–these songs are awesome!
