WOODY RADIO DJ MIKE SHOW #85, 12/28/2019

Happy New Year, from me to you!
We are right in the middle of that holiday sweet spot–the week between Christmas and New Year’s. One of my favorite times of year. Things are a little slower, less traffic and congestion out there, people are out of the office, spending time with family, and the food treats are in abundance. Basically, things are just a little off schedule, and if you’re intrepid enough, you can sneak in and get some stuff done.

This leads me to today’s episode of my DJ Mike show. Normally, I do the late evening show on Tuesday nights. This was a rare Saturday morning show, and I expanded it to a full 4 hours. Plenty of time to get stuff done, and a chance to play some songs for a completely different demographic of listeners. I didn’t even need to do any overtime sets today–I wrapped it all up in those 4 hours.

Not that I didn’t have any leftover songs. But I was able to pack in 63 songs for you guys, in a wide variety of musical styles. Some of it was very old (John Entwistle, Merle Haggard), some of it came my way in the last quarter of 2019 (Lannie Flowers, Elk City, Ghost Outfit, The Amplifier Heads), and some of it is from the future (Anton Barbeau–due out in January, 2020).

It was great fun starting at 9:00 a.m. on a Saturday, with virtually nobody listening at first, and then seeing people slowly figure out what was going on, and getting a nice bunch of you listening and commenting on what you were hearing, as the morning progressed. Also–for those of you who think that California must be some kind of tropical paradise, for the record, it was 37 degrees at showtime, and it warmed up to 52 degrees by the end. Not brutal cold, but certainly not befitting the stereotype. All in all, a nice early winter day in Sacramento. Chilly but sunny.

So that wraps up 2019 on the radio for me. I hope you guys can listen to at least some of this show, and enjoy the amazing music. I wish you all a happy, healthy, peaceful New Year 2020, and see you in a few days!
