And don’t let the relatively calm font and classy layout of this webpage fool you. This is a truly weird mix of music. When you think about it. (Yes, that last sentence is not a real sentence, but it needed to be said by itself.) I invite you to listen to this weird mix. It somehow all fits together.
This week features two really odd tracks from the Corner Laughers’ orbit–a “yacht rock-type” song by Agony Aunts, and for the first time ever on this show–a Preoccupied Pipers track. I love that last one, but it does come with the warning I often issue on certain songs: “It’s not a NICE song, but it IS a song.” You’ll see what I mean. If you dare.
But wait, there’s more. The Taters mashing up Smoke on the Water and Route 66? Fougeddaboutit! A magnificent Beatles cover by the Cherry Bluestorms, and an equally magnificent Records cover by The Bottle Kids. Both feature some stellar guitar work.
But this ain’t no covers show. Most of this show features some amazing indie music, with a few not-so-indie alternative acts in the mix as well.
