Woody Radio DJ Mike Show #164 11/14/2020: Interviews with Spencer Cullum, and John Rosewall of Petrified Max!

This show features a pair of fun and interesting interviews with artists who’ve released quirky but highly listenable and enjoyable albums this year.

First up–steel guitarist Spencer Cullum. Originally from London, England, but now a part of the Nashville music scene, he’s known for his work with Miranda Lambert. But as cool as that is, he’s got even more surprises in store. His debut album, “Spencer Cullum’s Coin Collection”, brings this good-natured musical genius to the forefront. No country on this album, it’s rock, folk, and even a cool Kraftwerk-inspired instrumental to grace your music player. https://spencercullumscoincollection.com

We were scheduled to chat with Vitus Mataré and John Rosewall, two-thirds of the recently-formed Los Angeles-based band, Petrified Max. But Vitus’ tech failed on him that day, so at showtime, there was no way to reach him. John represented the band admirably. Those two plus legendary drummer Danny Frankel created a debut album, “Charlie Drove North”, that is by turns rocking, bleak, and a bit quirky–like Stan Ridgway or early Judybats meets The Golden Palominos. These guys have a long history together in the bands The Last and Trotsky Icepick, and as the interview will reveal, have great musical plans for the future. https://petrifiedmax.bandcamp.com/album/charlie-drove-north
